Opdrachtbeschrijving

We are seeking a software engineer who is able to develop a software application for an assistive technology device start-up, which will soon be based at the YES!Delft incubator. The mechanical engineering team has developed an item of assistive technology, which allows the capturing of the exact needs of the end-user with an aged-related mobility challenge, or a person with a mobility disability. There is now a patent pending, and the technology has been very well received by the sector (hospitals and therapists), including preliminary orders. Until now, the focus has been getting the mechanical aspects right, but now we are focusing on the just-as-important task of software. We need to develop a version 1 software application that can:• Allows for setting up a user (therapist) accounts• Allows therapists to set up individual end-user sub accounts, which hold end-user data• Supports an assessment process conducted by the therapist, which consists of interviewing the end user and collecting all relevant information• Provides a step-by-step on-screen guide to the therapist to use the assistive technology device, including providing ergo-therapeutic guidance at each step• Allows for entering of the specific measurement and other data from the assessment and testing of the device• Is able to present a present a visual representation of the assistive technology device • Able to generate reports, based on the above information After the above work, launch and further testing - we hope to move to later versions of the software that can add the following capabilities• Sensors - allow measurement, pressure and other sensors to the device to collect real-time dynamic data• AI - after building up a database of user data, apply AI techniques to improve user-experience This is a small, fun and dynamic engineering-led team which is excited to make a positive impact for the millions of people in the world facing a mobility challenge. We are seeking a software engineer open to a longer term, multi-year and flexible arrangement. You will be considered a full part of the team.

Hi, Interesting product, and a smart sequencing choice: getting the mechanical side validated first with hospitals and therapists before investing in software means v1 can be built against real workflows instead of assumptions. What you describe maps to a clear architecture: therapist accounts with end user sub accounts, a guided assessment flow with step by step ergo therapeutic instructions, structured measurement input, a visual representation of the device configuration, and report generation. I would build this as a web application (works on any tablet or laptop in a clinical setting, no app store friction) with a strict data model from day one, so that the sensor data and AI capabilities you mention for later versions slot in without a rebuild. That second phase is actually my core specialty: I build production grade AI systems for businesses, so I would design the v1 database with that future in mind. One thing worth addressing early since you are working with therapists and end user data: this touches health related personal data under the GDPR. Privacy by design, clean data separation per therapist and a sensible consent flow are easy to get right at the start and painful to retrofit. I would bake that into v1. Relevant recent work: a multilingual conversational AI advisor for an international consumer brand (Next.js, Supabase, 5 languages), an autonomous document processing agent handling roughly 99 percent of cases without human intervention, and several assessment and workflow style applications for SMEs. A longer term, flexible arrangement suits me well. For the engagement we can work per hour or with a fixed price per version or milestone, whatever works best for you. Happy to share a short outline of how I would scope v1, just let me know! Have a great day! Wesley
